On the New Year Eve Irkutsk AIDS Center published a spoof video on the “Sex and the City” TV series, called “Bullshit and the Backwater Town”, which focuses on the topics of love, fidelity, truth, lies and safe sex.
The storyline explores typical situations when people have to lie to their friends, colleagues, relatives and sexual partners.
Vasiliy Buchinskyi, the project co-author:
“We wanted to shoot a simple spoof on “Sex and the City” series, however, in my opinion, it came out better than expected, featuring even more profound message and underlying idea.
I’ve never done something like that. It turned very difficult to film erotic content. And if it is a social advertising at the same time, the difficulty doubles.
It’s not appropriate to attribute the work to myself, because the video would not be possible without a large team, including actors, director, film editor, filmmaker, coordinator.
I only created the concept and a primary screenplay which was considerably changed several times in the course of shooting”.
The message of this video is that fidelity does not guarantee safe sex, because it’s impossible to know all the truth. This is very important for Irkutsk oblast, where in 2017 more than a half of HIV infection cases were transmitted through unsafe sex.
It’s important to note that Irkutsk AIDS Center regularly uses creative approaches to promote prevention: thus, in early November of this year a huge laser show and a concert were held to support the anonymous rapid testing event.
The Center actively cooperates with civil society organizations, in mid-October it announced an auction of subsidies for NGOs and social enterprises ready to undertake HIV prevention activities.
