16 non-governmental organizations from different regions of the country will participate in the European initiative aimed at encouraging people to get tested for HIV and hepatitis, including the members of the “Consortium of Key Communities” representing Ukraine in the ECUO PLWH.
The European HIV-Hepatitis Testing Week will be held in Ukraine from November 17 to November 24. In 2015, testing for hepatitis was also added to HIV testing. Globally the number of deaths from viral hepatitis has already become equal to the number of deaths from tuberculosis and is exceeding HIV/AIDS mortality.
The European Testing Week Slogan, “Test. Treat. Prevent”, is intended to enhance the dialogue between people who need to learn about their status and the organizations providing testing services. It is important that people living with HIV or hepatitis get to know more about their status as soon as possible, because early diagnosis and timely initiation of treatment save lives.
The European Testing Week is conducted within the “HIV in Europe” initiative, with the active involvement of organizations across Europe, which carry out field activities and ensure coverage of populations with high risks of HIV or hepatitis infection. To popularize testing, the organizers engage opinion leaders from among public activists, journalists, popular musicians and celebrities.
The list of organizations participating in the European Testing Week is available on the event website.
