Based on the results of the strategic planning, a strategic plan of activities for 2018-2021 will be developed, and members, employees, volunteers and partners of the organization will be able to have a consolidated updated vision and understanding of the organization’s mission and activities in accordance with current challenges.
Strategic planning of the activities of the NGO “Real World, Real People” (RWRP) started in Yerevan. It should be noted that since its establishment in 2003, the organization has successfully implemented a number of advocacy initiatives aimed at improving access to HIV treatment and improving the quality of life of people living with HIV in Armenia.
In October 2017, the management changes were approved at the General Meeting of the Organization: a new board was elected, Zhenya Mayilyan was elected as the chairperson of the NGO Real World, Real People, and the organization amended its Charter. The new RWRP Board passed a resolution on the need for strategic planning to update strategic objectives, activities and actions, taking into account current challenges and the need to increase effectiveness in advocating for the rights of PLWH.
The East Europe and Central Asia Union of People Living with HIV acts as a technical partner and provides expert support in developing the 2018-2021 strategic plan for RWRP, representing the interests of PLWH in Armenia. Thus, Armen Agadjanov, the ECUO strategic information officer, and Natasha Leonchuk, the ECUO strategic development expert, take part in the planning.
“Our mission is to change this world. Our organization will exist and work as long as indifference and rejection still remain prevalent in our society”, the organization’s website states.
The mission of the NGO Real World, Real People was to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV and their families by developing a movement of mutual assistance, strengthening the cohesion and professional capacity of the HIV-positive community, providing social, psychological and legal support, and increasing access to treatment, care and prevention.
The strategy is a general long-term agenda that allows to effectively identify and distribute the organization’s priorities and resources in order to achieve its goals. Certainly, strategic planning and availability of an action plan relevant to current trends and challenges largely determine the sustainability of the non-profit organization and its advocacy capabilities, that’s why strategic planning issues are extremely relevant.
The meeting is held within the framework of the regional program “Partnership for Equal Access to the Continuum of HIV Services for Everyone Who Needs It, in the EECA region” implemented by the East European and Central Asia Union of People Living with HIV (ECUO) with the support of the Global Fund. It is expected that the strategic action plan for 2018-2021 will be developed upon the results of the strategic planning, and the members, employees, volunteers and partners of the organization will be able to obtain a consolidated updated vision and understanding of the mission of the organization and its activities in accordance with the existing challenges.
