The Presidential Grants Foundation allocated 8 billion rubles on the development of civil society in 2018 and added a new grant area.
The contest of presidential grants for NGOs will begin on February 20. Applications are accepted until 26 March. The results will be announced on June 1, 2018.
Applicants must submit only one document, namely the organization Charter, in addition to the application itself. If the NGO participated in the grant competitions in 2017, has already uploaded the Charter to the competition website and no amendments were made to the Charter since then, it is not necessary to submit this document again.
In addition to the activities that the Foundation already supported in 2017, a new one was added – “Identifying and supporting young talents in culture and arts”. The projects in this area have their own special requirements, they will be reflected in the Regulations on the Competition to be published on the Foundation’s website in the near future.
The Head of the Foundation, Ilya Chukalin, recalls that this year is declared nationwide as the Year of the Volunteer, so that organizations should pay attention to volunteer projects. “We are looking forward to further growth in the number of socially significant projects for the development of volunteer movement in our country. Only in 2017, 729 projects 1.5 billion rubles worth were supported in this area”, the press service quoted Chukalin.
Another innovation, much expected by the infrastructure NGOs, was confirmed. Support for long-term projects becomes available for the first time. Applicants having significant experience and proposing an initiative that cannot be properly implemented in a year and a half will be able to compete for a grant of up to three years. Such an opportunity will be piloted in three areas: “Supporting projects in the field of science, education, awareness”, “Identifying and supporting young talents in culture and arts” and “Development of civil society institutions”.
In total, in 2018 there will be two competitions for presidential grants for NGOs, similar to 2017.
