The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan informed about the decrease of TB morbidity and mortality indicators.
In Azerbaijan every 39 out of 100,000 people suffer from TB. These figures are provided in the statement published on the website of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan.
According to the data, the statistics suggests TB incidence decrease in the country. It is noted that as early as 2010 the incidence rate was 53 cases per 100,000 people. At the same time, the number of primary TB cases decreased by 21%.
Moreover, the Ministry of Health was eager to report that the mortality statistics also changed in 6 years. While in 2010 the mortality rate was 7.9 per 100,000 people, in 2016 this figure dropped to 4.6.
In 2007 Azerbaijan had the highest morbidity and mortality indicators among the European countries, nowadays the figures have halved.
It was also noted that patients with TB are provided with free medications and, if necessary, hospitalized, as well as treated under a special program.
