It’s worth reminding that #тыНЕодинок #YouAreNotAlone campaign started last year in Kyrgyzstan on the International Day for Protection of Children.

The main goal of the campaign is to combat stigma and discrimination faced by children and families affected by HIV. Despite the existence of awareness programs and legislation protecting the rights of people living with HIV, many of them live in fear, concealing their status even from relatives. During the development of the campaign, the celebrities met with teenagers and families who experienced these problems.

Famous people of Kyrgyzstan – Abir Kasenov, Arsen, Aiganysh Abdiyeva, Bayastan, Erkin Ryskulbekov and Ayim Ayilchieva, as well as UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador Vera Brezhneva, voiced the thoughts and words of these people. More than 1 million people watched the campaign video.

Anyone can join the campaign. You only need to post your photo with a hashtag #тыНЕодинок #YouAreNotAlone in the social media and to express the support to teenagers with HIV or their families, tell your own story of overcoming the discrimination and bullying.

A few days before the Zero Discrimination Day which is celebrated on March 1, Kazakhstan also signed the National Plan to Combat Stigma and Discrimination of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) for 2018-2019. The document was signed by Nurali Amanzholov, President of the Kazakhstan Union of PLWH and Bauyrzhan Bayserkin, General Director of the Republican Center for AIDS Prevention and Control (RC of AIDS) of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan.
